Open Graph Settings
We recommend that you fill out the information on the plugin settings page. These information will then be taken as default. With that you don't need to go and change all the written content. If the WP Social SEO Pro plugin can't find any information entered within the meta box it will take the information from the settings page.
Use the Open Graph settings the same way as you use the SEO settings for your site. Google and most other search engines do use the Open Graph meta tags for their listings too and MOST important, Facebook does use ONLY the Open Graph meta tags when a user likes your post/page/site. The better Open Graph meta tags you have, the better it will look on Facebook and it can become much more viral.
SEO Plugin Support
WP Social SEO Pro will support ANY SEO plugin for WordPress and it will even support the SEO features from your theme if they are built in. The plugin will scan the code of your site and check if there are any SEO description and if it can find some, it will use it.
With that feature, you don't need to go and edit any content at all. If you have proper SEO Title and SEO Description on your site, WP Social SEO Pro will use it for the Open Graph Meta tags.
*Do not turn on any "Social" settings from other WordPress SEO Plugins or theme integration as they will duplicate the Meta Tags generated for Open Graph and cause your site not to be optimized correctly.
The image is being used to post on the user's wall when he/she likes/shares your post. The plugin will use the images in the following order:
- First it will check if you have entered an image in "Always Use This Image" within the plugin settings.
- If that is empty it will check if you uploaded an image in the "WP Social SEO Pro Open Graph Metabox".
- If this is empty too it will check for a thumbnail (featured image).
- If the featured image is empty the plugin will scan your content.
- If you're using an image within your content the plugin will use the first image found.
Default Open Graph Images need to be at least 200 x 200 pixels for Facebook to recognize them as significant objects for enhancing Facebook "EdgeRank".
Facebook App ID/API Key:
We recommend, that you're creating a Facebook Application for your Website. This will then also enable Facebook Insights for your site, where you can get stats about the Facebook Social activity on your site. After you created your Facebook Application enter the Facebook APP ID / API Key in to the settings page.
Enter the User ID of the Facebook App Admin. If you changed the URL of your profile and you have your name in this URL, then the ID can be found by typing the following URL in to your browser: http://graph.facebook.com/USERNAME. Replace USERNAME with your name. If you have more than one admin for a Fan Page than enter all the ID's in a comma separated list. This is required for Facebook Insights.
Fan Page URL:
Enter the URL of your Fan Page, which is associated with your website. The plugin will then add the proper meta tags for it and this is being used to markup as the publisher for all the content your create on your site. This is about the same on Facebook as the Google+ Publisher on Google.
Facebook Profile URL:
Go to Users > Your Profile and the URL of your personal Facebook profile in to the "WP Social Facebook Profile URL" settings field. This will add the proper meta tags for the Facebook Author markup, which is about the same on Facebook as the Google+ Authorship markup on Google.
Default Content Type:
Here you can give your content a default type for Facebook. If your site is a blog and gets many blog posts, we recommend that you set the default content type to Article.
These settings will be used for the homepage. Here you can enter custom values and if you activate them then they will be used on the homepage, regardless what other settings you have for the home page. This is a great feature to customize the Facebook Open Graph settings for the homepage, especially if you don't use a static page as your homepage.
Article Section & Tags
Facebook does also have its own meta tags for articles which they use for their Open Graph Search. If a post is being liked or shared on Facebook and it can automatically be found within Facebook's Open Graph Search as Web Search. To rank the content, Facebook does use the article:section and article:tag markup. Social SEO Pro does automatically add the first category of the content as article:section and does also automatically take all related tags for the specific content as article:tag (one for each tag).

Open Graph Product Markup for WooCommerce / Easy Digital Downloads / Social Deals Engine
Social SEO Pro does also automatically add the Open Graph Product markup for all your WooCommerce / Easy Digital Downloads / Social Deals Engine products. You don't even need to do anything. This is all be done automatically. You can see an example markup from our shop:
Custom Open Graph Settings
For each content you create, you also have the ability to completely customize the Open Graph Tags within the Social SEO Pro Meta Box settings.
You can not only do that for the Title and Description, but you also have the ability to add a lot of different info for the specific content as well as changing the type of the content so that Facebook does better understand what your content is all about and so better categorize your content.
You also have the ability to enter a custom Facebook User ID for the Facebook Admin tag as well as the Facebook App ID. This can be useful, if you have a multi-author site or if you allow Guest-Posts. With that, the Guest- Poster or other Author
can also see some stats within their Facebook Account (Facebook Insights for Apps).
